Since a lot of off-topic stuff is showing up in comments on the ABC/Disney post, it looks like another open thread is needed. We also don't want the other news to fall through the cracks, as much as we want to keep the heat on the GoofyGate story.
First up, The New York Times reports on a Senate Intelligence Committee report that, "Democrats say undercuts President Bush's justification for invading Iraq." Well, whoopty-doo! If you didn't know that already, it's a good thing for you that somebody else has already discovered fire. And why did the NYT have to put the words, 'Democrats say' in there? They don't put, 'Republicans and troglodytes say' in front of right-tard propaganda. Well, not usually. In this case though, we have,"Republicans countered that there was little new in the report and Democrats were trying to score election-year points with it." Maybe the Democrats were trying to score with the 50% of the American public that still think that there was a connection between Saddam and 9/11. The Senate report says definitely not, but I doubt FOX "news" will note the contradiction.
And then there's THIS PIECE about the NSA spying on Quakers and nuns. Typically these unintelligent 'intelligence specialists' can't tell a burkha from a wimple, OK. Who knows what the nuns are hiding under their habits? But the Quakers?!? A group of non-violent pacifists? Maybe the NSA is thinking of that old Quaker Oats commercial for Puffed Wheat, where they call it, "The cereal that's shot from guns."
It really is too, I grew up in a town with a Quaker Oats plant in it. They use converted WWI era cannons as giant pressure cookers. Every now and then you hear a muffled bang coming from Q-O, and the whole town is treated to a pleasant odour not unlike fresh-baked bread. But I digress.
Any other hot items? Post 'em in comments, and if they're really good, we'll blog 'em.
